Lemon Maiolica Gift Set — Hand-Painted Soap Dish & Three Italian Soaps

Three full-size Italian soaps and a hand-painted ceramic soap dish from Casa Amalfi, in a gold-lined gift box printed with the lemon maiolica pattern — yellow lemons and leaves running through orange acanthus scrollwork and small blue tiles.

That pattern is not decoration invented for a box. Lemons and scrolling acanthus are the oldest motifs on the Amalfi Coast, painted onto tile and tableware in the towns above the sea for centuries. The dish inside is painted by hand in the same palette: a yellow ground, green leaves, burgundy brushwork, and a dotted border.

The three bars are each 150g, triple-milled, made with Italian olive oil, shea butter, and jojoba oil:

Buongiorno Positano — lemon basil and mandarin. The brightest of the three. Citrus with a green herbal edge rather than a sweet one.
Aperitivo in Amalfi — Spritz di Frutta scrub bar. Bitter orange, mint, and ginger, with finely ground apricot seed milled in so it exfoliates as it washes.
Summer in Sorrento — a citrus love affair. Zesty citrus with hints of fresh herbs, the scent of the lemon groves above Sorrento.

Vegan and cruelty-free. Three bars is roughly a year of soap for one person, and the dish stays long after they are gone.

What is in the box?

Is the dish dishwasher safe?
Yes. It can also be washed by hand, which many people prefer for hand-painted pieces.

What does maiolica mean here?
Maiolica is tin-glazed, hand-painted Italian earthenware — the tradition behind the tiles and tableware of the Amalfi Coast and of Deruta, which Biordi has imported since 1946. The lemon maiolica pattern on the box is drawn from it, and the dish inside is a hand-painted piece in that tradition.

Is one of the soaps a scrub?
Yes. The Aperitivo in Amalfi bar has finely ground apricot seed milled into it, so it exfoliates gently as you wash. The other two are smooth bars.

Are they vegan?
Yes. All three are vegan and cruelty-free, made with Italian olive oil, shea butter, and jojoba oil.

Can I use the dish for something other than soap?
Yes — it works as a ring dish on a dresser, a small tray for olives or lemon wedges, or a spoon rest by the stove.
