DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
An Italian stoneware serving bowl, hand-thrown and hand-glazed at Bucci Ceramiche in Pesaro, Italy. Designed by chef Dena Marino as part of the Il Mio Tavolo collection, exclusive to Biordi Art Imports. At 12" diameter × 4" deep, it's the workhorse serving bowl of the collection — the right size for family-style pasta, soup, salad, or a generous side dish.
The bowl is made of high-fired Italian stoneware with hand-applied glaze fired at 1240°C. Available in six colorways: Coconut Cream, Cocoa Powder, Blue Wheat, Grey Salt, Sage Leaf, and Fennel Pollen. Each glaze sits slightly differently on each piece — subtle color variation is part of the look.
Sized for a generous family-style serving for 4–6 people. Use it for pasta, risotto, salad, soup, fruit, or as a year-round centerpiece bowl on a kitchen island. Like the rest of the Il Mio Tavolo line, it's dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe — built for daily use, not just display.
The small imperfections such as the difference in color, shape, diameter, or small bubbles that form inside do not constitute a defect but testify that it is actually an artisanal product.

Questions buyers ask
Questions buyers ask
What's it sized for?
Family-style serving for 4–6 people. Generous for pasta, salad, soup, or a side dish.
How is it different from the Small Serving Bowl?
This is 12" diameter × 4" deep — deeper and wider, for a full serving course. The Small Serving Bowl is 9" × 3".
Is it dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe?
Yes to all three. Italian stoneware fired at 1240°C.
Can I mix glazes with the rest of Il Mio Tavolo?
Yes. The glazes are designed to coordinate.
What if my glaze is out of stock?
Pre-order. Bucci Ceramiche makes the piece for you in Italy; ships in 60–90 days.
Is this a good Italian wedding gift?
Yes — wedding gifts are one of the things Biordi is best known for. Hand-crafted Italian stoneware is heirloom-quality, one-of-a-kind, and carries its origin clearly: this piece is made in Pesaro, Italy. Couples actually use and display Biordi pieces rather than store them. We ship nationwide, gift-wrap on request, and have been the San Francisco source for authentic Italian ceramics since 1946.
Is this a good housewarming or hostess gift?
Yes. Gifts are the largest part of what Biordi sells — every piece is a one-of-a-kind, authentic Italian treasure made by a named artisan in Italy, not a mass-produced import. Arrives ready to use rather than store. Add Florentine gift wrap at checkout if you'd like it sent finished.
Why buy Italian gifts from Biordi rather than other retailers?
Biordi Art Imports has been San Francisco's source for authentic Italian ceramics and gifts since 1946. Voted Best Overall Retailer in the San Francisco Bay Guardian Best of the Bay readers' poll for five consecutive years. Designated a San Francisco Legacy Business (#LBR-2020-21-029), and the city declared May 1 "Biordi Art Imports Day" in 2021. Every piece comes from a named Italian artisan, family workshop, or heritage house we work with directly — FIMA, CF Deruta, Pia Formato, Eugenio Ricciarelli, Susanna DeSimone (from the famous Palermo ceramic family — her father painted with Picasso), Geribi, Bucci Ceramiche, Ortigia Sicilia, Italesse, and Salviati. So each piece is genuinely one-of-a-kind. Not a stock-photo listing, not a mass-produced import, not a reproduction.
Can this be customized or personalized?
Customization and personalization are available on select pieces. Eugenio Ricciarelli, FIMA, Pia Formato, Geribi, and CF Deruta accept special orders — a name, date, or occasion painted on the piece, or a different size or shape in the workshop's existing pattern. Lead time is typically 3–6 months because each piece is hand-painted to order in Italy. Contact Biordi Art Imports at (415) 392-8096 or customerservice@biordi.com.

Chef Dena Marino — James Family Chef
With her vibrant and fresh approach to food putting her defining signature on every plate she prepares, Dena Marino has become one of the country's most accomplished and preeminent chefs. Dena first made her mark as the chef of the well-respected Ajax Tavern, D19 and Ellina restaurants in Aspen, Colorado, developing her refined, signature style centered on thoughtful presentation — a nod to her many years spent under the tutelage of acclaimed chef and restaurateur Michael Chiarello. It was at his celebrated Tra Vigne, Napa Valley, that she polished her family's Italian roots.
Dena opened MC Kitchen and Mercato in Miami's Design District, with the menu reflecting her rustic Italian approach and showcasing modern techniques using seasonal organic ingredients. The restaurant was recognized as one of the nation's Top 20 Best New Restaurants by Esquire. Dena's highly reviewed and desired meals at MC Kitchen caught the attention of Savannah and LeBron James, making her restaurant a regular post-game stop. Her work there eventually led to her current position as Chef for LeBron James and his family.

Il Mio Tavolo Stoneware is oven safe, microwave safe and dishwasher safe.
Stoneware is known for its durability, making it a popular choice for Michelin star restaurants and the home chef. Proper care will ensure your stoneware remains beautiful and functional for years to come. We have some suggestions that will preserve your stoneware collection.
Cleaning
- Dishwasher Use: If you choose to use a dishwasher, place the stoneware securely to prevent it from moving around during the wash cycle. Use a gentle cycle and avoid overcrowding.
- Avoid Abrasive Cleaners: Do not use abrasive scrubbers or harsh cleaners, as they can scratch the surface of the stoneware.
- Soaking: If you have stuck-on food, soak the stoneware in warm, soapy water for a few minutes before washing.
- Scratch Removal: To remove scratch marks, use barkeepers scratch remover.
Usage
- Temperature Changes: Avoid sudden temperature changes, such as moving stoneware directly from the refrigerator to a hot oven, as this can cause thermal shock and cracking.
- Oven and Microwave Use: Stoneware is oven and microwave safe. Avoid using stoneware under the broiler or on direct heat sources like stovetops.
- Preheating: When using stoneware in the oven, it’s best to place it in a cold oven and allow it to heat gradually to avoid thermal shock.
By following these tips, you can keep your stoneware looking beautiful and lasting a lifetime.
