Dolce & Gabbana and Fiasconaro create another pastry goodness typical of the Italian tradition: the Colomba.

And once again, a recipe whose origins are deeply rooted in northern Italy returns to inspire the confectionery art and creativity of two entrepreneurial realities that have Sicily in their DNA.

Made with a process entirely by hand, from the dough to the cooking, the Colomba celebrates the pastry making tradition of the Bel Paese, passing down its secrets with passion. The wonderful tin boxes, adorned with the special decorations of the best Sicilian artists and inspired by the blue and white majolica of the island, help to preserve the intense aroma of these sweet creations and are reminiscent of the vivid “Mediterranean Blue” and the fresh sea breeze.

Making these even more desirable are the tin boxes that contain them. Expressly designed by the most famous Sicilian artisans, these brightly coloured and illustrated boxes are inspired by the decorative motifs of Sicilian majolica designs.

The love for artisanal production, the respect for traditions, and the courage to experiment are all essential aspects needed to achieve the magical combination of style and taste in the creation of these panettoni.

A collaboration between Dolce & Gabbana and Pastificio Di Martino.

Dolce & Gabbana

Is an Italian luxury fashion brand founded in 1985 in by Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana

Fiasconaro is a visionary Sicilian company that we consider pioneers of the traditional Italian panettone — thanks to their classic original cake recipe that maintains the utmost respect for local Sicilian ingredients. Not just a traditional holiday cake anymore, Fiasconaro’s new and innovative panettone — made with only the best Sicilian ingredients (that undergo a lengthy natural fermentation process) — has changed the name of the panettone game.

Fiasconaro is a modern and ever expanding pastry company that started in 1953 with Mario Fiasconaro as head chef. Inspired by their father, the three Fiasconaro brothers — Fausto, Martino and  Nicola — grew from little kids who loved helping out the pastry shop to successful entrepreneurs. Today, Fausto is the showroom manager, Martino leads the administration and Nicola is the award-winning pastry chef.

Italian ceramics are heirloom quality products, and can last lifetime with proper care. We have some suggestions that will preserve your majolica for years to come.

Majolica is dishwasher safe, but many people choose to hand wash their pieces as a precaution. Because majolica is a porous material, some pieces are not meant to hold liquid for a long period of time. Check for warning labels before ordering a product, as the pieces that are most notorious for "sweating" are appropriately labeled.

Majolica is sensitive to extreme temperatures, specifically boiling or freezing liquids. Pouring water with a rolling boil directly into a teapot, for example, may lead to breakage. To avoid this, temper the object. The industry standard is 620 degrees Celsius (1,148 degrees Fahrenheit). Quench the glass to cool it.

Crazing is common in well used majolica. The tiny cracks in the glaze do not affect the functionality of your majolica.

Majolica hand-crafted products should not be microwaved, as it may crack and/or break the ceramics.
